In 2011 the band from Detroit (around Joe Casey (vocals) / Greg Ahle (guitar) / Scott Davidson (bass) and drummer Alex Leonard) stood in the recording studio together for the first time. The result was “No Passion All Technique” and cost only four hours and a case of beer.

“No Passion All Technique” is sold out and sold out shortly after its original release on Urinal Cake Records in October 2012. Intellectual, heartbreaking, funny – a random tour de force that has also become an unlikely collector’s item. “My Memory is shot,” says Casey, “but looking back now, I appreciate how raw and spontaneous it was. There are tons of flaws in it, and it wasn’t because we planned it. The first album is never really the best but I’m glad the album didn’t suck in the end. It opened the door to what we wanted to do later. ”

Their current EP “Consolation” was released in 2018.

As anyone who has been in attendance at one of their live shows thus far will testify – where the venues are decorated from floor to ceiling with glitter, doll parts, glamorous pictures and whatever else the six members of the band have dreamt up in the days before – HMLTD are a band of grand ambitions.

“Our plan has always been to connect on a much, much bigger scale than this,” says singer Henry. “We want to make big pop songs that get on the radio, in the papers, we want to be pop stars. And I don’t see why that is something that we should be embarrassed about.”

“That’s why we put so much into our videos, and our aesthetic. That’s why we signed to Sony, and not to an indie label. We have always thought of ourselves as a pop group, not an indie band.” adds guitarist James.

So, they connected with the famous Producer from Los Angeles, Justin Tranter (worked with Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears and Justin Bieber) for their new Album.
The first fruits of this new collaborative way of working will be ‘Pictures Of You’: a giant, titanic pop song with undeniable, super-infectious hooks that, rather than sounding like the work of Justin Tranter, still bears all the unmistakable hallmarks of an HMLTD creation. “And that is one of the more straight up songs,” says James. “The others are quite avant grade and strange, and totally unlike anything you’d hear on the radio at the moment, but still very pop, which is very exciting.”
“Basically,” Henry concludes, “we just want HMLTD to matter on a massive scale.”

Deathrite are Beff, Andy, Tony, Tom, and Anton. But that wasn’t always the case. As with most bands lineups change, but the original core—Beff, Andy, Tony—started jamming together in Dresden in 2010. Informed by punkandhardcore’s pissed off mentality, inspired by the sounds—namely, the buzzsaw guitar tone resulting from the Boss HM-2 pedal—of early stage Entombed and Dismember, and totally in awe of the opposite ends of grindcore and sludge, Deathrite’s style was unlikely but stabbed strongly at the heart of it all. There was no pretense in Deathrite. Only a bunch of likeminded Germans bonded by thingshard, fast, slow, and heavy..

Conceptually, Nightmare’s Reignisn’t a metaphor. Deathritewrite about death and darkness—literally, the consummation of two themes—most of the time, but on their Century Media debut, the lyrics tackle the topic of nightmares and theirpowerfulinfluence. The Germansare keenly interested in the force of nightmares, what they’re capable of inside and out of dreams.Songs like “Appetite for Murder,” “Bloodlust,” and “Temptation’s Call” were written about the powerful and frightful conditions brought on by nightmares, and how they might influence real-life decisions. Whereas Motörhead’s “Like a Nightmare” scratches the surface, Deathrite’s “Demon Soul” and title track delve deep into the darkest corners.
